December dates
The December CCB date is earlier than usual — December 11 instead of around the 20th — because of the holidays. CPP, OAS and GIS always arrive together, on the same day, in the last week of the month. The Ontario Trillium Benefit arrives on the 10th of each month. Direct deposit is the fastest way to get paid — if you still get a check in the mail, switching to direct deposit through your CRA My Account avoids postal delays.
What the amounts mean
The Canada Child Benefit is tax-free and paid monthly for children under 18. For July 2026 to June 2027 it is up to $8,157 a year for a child under six and $6,883 for a child aged six to 17, with the full amount at family net income of $38,237 or less. CPP at 65 is up to $1,507.65 a month, though the average new beneficiary gets about $858 — the maximum needs close to 39 years of maximum contributions. OAS for October–December 2026 is up to $762.50 a month at age 65 to 74 and $838.75 at 75 and over, after a 1.4 percent quarterly increase. GIS, the low-income top-up to OAS, is up to $1,138.90 a month for a single person.
Payments that have ended
The Canada Carbon Rebate ended with its final payment on April 22, 2025, with no further quarterly payments. The Grocery Rebate was a one-time payment on July 5, 2023 and has not returned. Its successor is the Canada Groceries and Essentials Benefit, formerly the GST/HST credit, renamed in July 2026 and now paid quarterly — the next payment is January 5, 2027. If you get a text about a $2,000 CRA payment, that is also false: the CRA has said no such payment exists, and it never starts a conversation by text or asks for banking details.
