What we cover
NorthCheck News covers government benefits and payments in the United States and Canada, and USA and Canada visa news. We publish news and fact-checks — not tools, not application forms, and not personal advice.
How we report
- Official sources first. Amounts, dates and eligibility rules are checked against the IRS, the Social Security Administration, the USDA, the Canada Revenue Agency, Service Canada, USCIS, IRCC, or another official source before publication. When a figure cannot be verified, we say so.
- Clear verdicts. Our fact-checks carry a plain verdict — confirmed, proposal, or false — so readers know where a claim stands.
- What it means for you. Every article explains what the news means for readers, not just what was announced.
- Independence. We do not accept payment for coverage, and advertisers do not influence what we write.
Review before publishing
Articles are researched and reviewed before they go live. We re-check amounts and dates on the day of publication, because benefit rules change.
Corrections
When we get something wrong, we fix it promptly and note the correction on the article. See our Corrections Policy for how to report an error.
