NorthCheck News is an independent news site covering government benefits and payments in the United States and Canada — stimulus checks, Social Security, SSI and SSDI, SNAP, tax credits, state rebates, and Canadian benefits such as the Canada Child Benefit, CPP, OAS, GIS and Employment Insurance. We also cover USA and Canada visa news in a narrow, news-only lane.
We started NorthCheck News for a simple reason: people search for answers about their benefits every day, and most of what they find is either a rumour, an outdated figure, or a headline that never answers the question. Our articles are built to clear the full doubt — what the payment is, who qualifies, how much it is, when it arrives, and what has actually been confirmed.
Every amount and date we publish is checked against an official source first — the IRS, the Social Security Administration, the USDA, the Canada Revenue Agency, Service Canada, USCIS or IRCC — and our fact-check articles carry a clear verdict: confirmed, proposal, or false. When a claim cannot be verified, we say so instead of guessing.
NorthCheck News is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the IRS, the Social Security Administration, the Canada Revenue Agency, Service Canada, USCIS, IRCC, or any other government agency. We do not collect Social Security numbers or bank details, and we never ask readers to apply for a benefit through us.
